- Savvaļas augu un dzīvnieku un citu organismu populāciju ģenētiskās struktūras izpēte un analīze.
- Dažādu vides faktoru, t.s., dažāda diapazona viļņu garuma elektromagnētiskā lauka ietekmes izvērtēšana uz šūnām un organismiem.
- Dažādu materiālu aizsargspēju pret vides faktoriem testēšana, testēšanas metožu izstrāde.
- Kultūraugu ģenētisko resursu saglabāšana un izpēte.
- Laukaugu kultūru selekcijas izejmateriāla veidošana, izmantojot biotehnoloģijas metodes.
- Dubultoto haploīdu (DH) līniju izveidošana kviešiem, miežiem, citām kultūrām, izmantojot un pilnveidojot mikrosporu un putekšņmaciņu in vitro kultūras.
